The Nehemiah Aviation Discovery Flight is perfect for those who are thinking about becoming a pilot or even those who just want to experience being a pilot for a day!
In the Discovery Flight your FAA-certified instructor will lead you through the same steps that every pilot accomplishes before they take to the sky.
First, you’ll start with a preflight brief in which your instructor will talk to you about what’s going to happen.
Next, you’ll step out to the airplane where your instructor will give you an introduction to the airplane.
Then you’ll strap in to the backseat, where you’ll have panoramic views and your own stick, rudder pedals, and throttle — which you’ll soon get to use.
Your instructor will demonstrate standard ground ops and a picture-perfect takeoff. Once safely airborne and away — it’ll be your turn to fly.
It’s a fun and exciting experience! You’ll be able to bank, turn, climb and descend to your heart’s delight. Your instructor will give you some pointers on what to do and where to go, but the flight is yours.
Once you’ve had a chance to experience the thrill of flying on your own, your instructor will lead you back to the airport where he’ll show you a perfect landing followed by a taxi back to the hangar. Your total time in the air will be approximately 30 minutes.
At that point, you’ve done it! You’re now among the ranks of those training to be pilots.

Note: Nehemiah Aviation does not conduct Private Pilot flight training. Some people like to use a Discovery Flight as a way to check out a flight school, its airplanes, and its instructors before committing to flight training with them — and that’s a great idea. If you want to get airborne and see how you like flying, we can definitely do that, but if you’d rather interview a flight school on your Discovery Flight, we understand that, too, and can recommend some local flight schools you might prefer.
